On the afternoon of April 10, Professor Zhou Guanghui, Vice President of Huaibei Normal University, was invited to the School of Microelectronics and Data Science at Anhui University of Technology to advise on academic program development and deliver a keynote lecture titled “Reflections on the Connotation Construction and Optimal Adjustment of Academic Disciplines.” The lecture was chaired by Yang Erguang, Dean of the School, and was attended by heads of various departments and micro-specialty programs within the School.

Drawing on the practical challenges encountered by Huaibei Normal University in its own program development efforts, Zhou systematically elaborated on two core questions: “What constitutes the connotation of an academic discipline?” and “How should such connotation be constructed?” He discussed the goal orientation, implementation pathways, and institutional safeguards for developing disciplinary connotation, as well as the principles and directions for optimizing and adjusting program structures.

Following the lecture, participating faculty members engaged in productive discussions with Zhou Guanghui on topics such as mechanisms for cultivating high-caliber talent, the development of micro-specialty programs, and the recruitment and training of top-tier faculty.
